Consistency is key to growing a successful coaching or online course business.

Consistency is defined as “the quality of always behaving or performing in a similar way, or of always happening in a similar way.

In order to grow a thriving online business, whether you are a coach, service provider, or course creator, you need to be consistent. Consistent in how you operate your business, in your marketing messaging, in the methods you use to work with your clients and in the framework you teach in your courses.

Yet, it is not always easy to stay consistent. Just like many of you, I’ve faced my fair share of challenges when it comes to maintaining a consistent routine, especially with those crucial business tasks that keep our online presence growing and thriving.

It all begins with motivation, that initial spark to get us started. But here’s the thing – motivation, as wonderful as it is, isn’t always a constant companion. It tends to wane, leaving us feeling, well, a little unmotivated to tackle those essential tasks.

Motivation gets you going, but discipline keeps you growing. That’s the Law of Consistency. It doesn’t matter how talented you are. It doesn’t matter how many opportunities you receive. If you want to grow, consistency is key.

So, how do we keep the momentum going? How do we stay on track and tick off those to-dos that lead us closer to achieving our quarterly or annual goals?

Whether you are struggling to stay consistent with your marketing efforts, crafting that amazing course, or nurturing an authentic online community, I’ve got three tips that can help keep you moving forward.

3 Ways to be Consistent in your Coaching or Course Creation Business

1. Focus on One Task at a time

We often feel overwhelmed when we fixate on those grand quarterly or annual goals. In today’s world, we’re pulled in countless directions, making it seem nearly impossible to work towards these lofty goals. That’s why it’s crucial to break these big goals down into smaller, more manageable tasks. Give yourself permission to zero in on one small task at a time.

Think of it as stepping stones on a path. As you complete each task, you’re taking one step closer to your ultimate goal. By concentrating on one task at a time, you’ll remove the overwhelm and make steady and consistent progress, day by day.

2. Try Habit Stacking

Adding new tasks and habits to our routines isn’t always easy, especially when it involves something entirely new. That’s where habit stacking comes in handy. It simplifies the process of incorporating a new habit into your daily life by attaching it to an existing action or habit you already do consistently.

For instance, if you want to dedicate 15 minutes to online networking daily, stack it with your email-checking routine. This way, you create a reminder for yourself to regularly complete that new habit, turning it into a consistent action.

3. Build Accountability into Your Business (and Life)

I’ve emphasized the importance of building a network of support and accountability on your business journey before. Find your tribe – people who can regularly check in with you, bounce ideas around, and hold you accountable for the goals you’ve set, both for yourself and your business.
