3 Tips for Staying Consistent with Your Marketing this Summer

Staying consistent with your marketing during the summer is key to a strong marketing strategy.

For many coaches, course creators and small business owners in the northern hemisphere, summer is fast approaching. Or maybe your summer months have already started. You may have begun to embrace a slower routine or have started to see things slowing down. If you’re like me, you have also been prepping and gearing up for the kids to be home for their school holidays.

The summer months can bring an added challenge to running a small business. It typically is a slower time of year as many people take holidays during these months, potentially reduce or pause their coaching sessions, or wait to purchase that course until the autumn months. And for many of us who are mompreneurs, the kids are home for the summer.

Yes, summer is a time for relaxation, sunshine, and making memories. However, as entrepreneurs, it's important to not let our marketing efforts take a holiday.

In today’s article, I want to share my top tips to help you stay consistent with your marketing during the summer so you can continue to stay connected and engaged with your audience. Let's dive in and make this summer season a marketing success!

As the summer sun shines brightly, don't let your marketing efforts fade away.

3 Tips for Staying Consistent with Your Marketing this Summer:

1. Accept the Slower (or Busier) Routine of Summer

Mindset plays a crucial role in embracing the changes summer brings. As coaches and course creators, it's important to accept and adapt to the changes in our routines. Your work schedule may need to be adjusted as clients and team members take time off. Additionally, if you have kids at home like I do, their summer break adds a new dimension to your daily routine.

Embrace the change and plan out a daily routine that works for you as an entrepreneur and as a parent, friend, spouse, or any other role that demands your attention during the summer months.

During the summer, some entrepreneurs experience a slower pace while others may find themselves busier due to seasonal demands. Regardless of your situation, enjoy the slower days or embrace the busier ones. Take time to invest in yourself by doing things you enjoy outside of your work tasks. This self-care and balance will contribute positively to your overall well-being and mindset, enabling you to tackle your marketing efforts with renewed energy and creativity.

And how can we stay consistent with our marketing during this slower or busier summer routine?

To stay consistent with your marketing and maintain your online presence, it's important to work ahead and batch the creation of your marketing content. Set aside dedicated chunks of time in your summer routine solely for content creation. By doing so, you can enable yourself to continue creating the necessary pieces of marketing content, even when faced with a shift in your routine. When you maintain consistency in your marketing efforts and your online presence, you continue to show up and be found by potential leads, as people are still active online, and perhaps even more so during the summer months.

2. Adjust your Content Schedule

Maintaining a consistent content schedule is key to a good marketing strategy. However, it's essential to evaluate your content schedule and make necessary adjustments to fit your summer routine. Recognize that your regular content plan may be challenging to sustain during the summer months. Take a step back and consider how you can modify your schedule to better align with your availability and responsibilities.

This was one of the first things I did when I was working through my summer schedule and routine. I realised that I would have a difficult time maintaining my schedule of publishing a blog post and sending out a newsletter every other week during the summer. Instead of trying to maintain this frequency (and probably not succeeding), I decided to adjust my marketing content schedule to spread out my content over a longer period.

The key is to strike a balance between consistency and practicality. By adjusting your content schedule, you ensure that you can consistently deliver valuable content to your audience, even if it's at a reduced frequency.

Grant yourself permission to adapt your content schedule to better fit your daily routine during the summer months. This flexibility allows you to sustain your online marketing efforts and maintain a consistent presence. As Wayne Breitbarth, a LinkedIn speaker, trainer and consultant, wisely said, "Consistency is one of the cornerstones of a good marketing strategy."

Remember, being effective with your marketing doesn't mean overwhelming yourself with an unrealistic content schedule. It's about finding a rhythm that works for you and enables you to connect with your audience consistently.

3. Automate your Posts

One of the best tools available to entrepreneurs to maintain consistency and save time with their marketing is automation. If you haven't already done so, I highly recommend you set up and utilize a scheduling tool to automate the publishing of your blog posts, newsletters, and social media content. Automation ensures that your content gets published consistently, even when you're enjoying a well-deserved holiday or have adjusted your working hours to accommodate other tasks and responsibilities in your summer routine.

Scheduling tools offer convenience and efficiency by allowing you to plan and schedule your content in advance. Whether you have a virtual assistant (VA) to help you with marketing tasks or manage them on your own, utilizing a scheduling tool is a game-changer. It enables you to batch your content creation and schedule multiple posts at once, freeing up valuable time for other essential aspects of your business.

There are numerous scheduling tools available to choose from, and many offer free plans that are sufficient for most small business owners. Consider using Meta Business Suite or Buffer, two options that I highly recommend. These tools not only save you time but also ensure that your marketing efforts continue to reach your audience consistently, even when you're not available to manually publish your content.

BONUS TIP – Ask for Assistance.

For mompreneurs, juggling the responsibilities of work and parenting during the summer holidays can be challenging. If you're struggling to adjust your daily routine to spend quality time with your kids whilst fulfilling work tasks, don't hesitate to seek assistance. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness but a smart move to ensure both your work responsibilities and your children's needs are met.

Reach out to fellow mompreneurs, family members, or close friends who may be able to assist you. Explore opportunities to trade childcare days where you take turns watching each other's kids, allowing you both to have dedicated work time. If feasible, consider enlisting the help of grandparents or nearby friends who can watch your kids for a day once a week or every couple of weeks.

Delegating childcare responsibilities creates uninterrupted work time, enabling you to focus on your business while knowing your children are well cared for. And it enables you to be fully present and give your children your full attention, not distracted by looming work tasks that also need your attention.

Remember, the summer holidays are a special time for creating lasting memories and bonding with your kids. Find moments to be present and enjoy adventures together. Balancing work and family life requires open communication, creativity, and sometimes seeking support from others. By effectively managing your time and seeking assistance when needed, you can create a balanced environment that allows you to excel in both areas of your life.

Finding Summer Balance

As the summer sun shines brightly, don't let your marketing efforts fade away. Accept and embrace the changes in your routine, adjust your content schedule to fit your availability, and leverage automation tools to maintain a consistent online presence.

And remember, finding a balance between work and personal life is crucial, especially during the summer months. Don't hesitate to ask for help when needed and create unforgettable memories with your loved ones.

By implementing these three tips, you can navigate the summer season with confidence, keep your audience engaged, and achieve marketing success in your business!
