5 Reasons Why I Recommend ConvertKit for Your Email Marketing

ConvertKit is a powerful email marketing platform for coaches and course creators.

Are you feeling overwhelmed trying to decide on the right email marketing platform to use for your business?

If you are looking for an email marketing platform to help grow your small business, ConvertKit is a good option. It was founded by Nathan Barry primarily to meet the email marketing needs of online creators, including bloggers, content creators, vloggers, course creators, and coaches.

ConvertKit is on a mission to help creators earn a living online.

Here are five reasons why I recommend ConvertKit when I am asked about the best email marketing platform to use.

Top 5 Reasons to use ConvertKit for Email Marketing

1. Deliverability of Emails

This is probably one of the top reasons that I have and have seen an increase for clients who have switched their email marketing to ConvertKit: the deliverability of emails. ConvertKit is built on the premise of creating simple emails that deliver and convert. You may like the idea of sending a “pretty” newsletter that includes all the graphics, video, different colours and formats … but did you know that plain-text emails tend to perform better? People are more likely to open and read a plain-text email rather than one that has been “fancied” up.

ConvertKit has worked hard at ensuring emails sent from their system land in your subscriber’s inbox rather than the spam folder. This can be seen in many of the open rates from some of the past clients I have worked with. I have seen open rates of 8-10% in a competing email marketing platform jump to 17-20% in ConvertKit, or higher! If you are taking the time to write an engaging email to your list, you want to have more people see and open your email. You want to make sure your emails are being delivered into people’s inboxes.

2. Extensive Support

ConvertKit offers an extensive knowledge base of how-to guides, articles, and video tutorials to help you work through any questions you may have. In addition, there is access to the ConvertKit community forum where you can post questions if you are unable to find your answer within the knowledge base provided. They also offer weekly live workshops on a variety of topics to help you further grow your business through email marketing.

What makes their support even more amazing is the Priority Support available for all customers, no matter what plan you are on. This helpful and reliable live chat is available 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. And they always follow up with email support until the issue has been resolved.

3. Great User Experience

ConvertKit is a powerful email marketing platform built with ease of use in mind. Their interface is simple and straightforward. It doesn’t take long to master using ConvertKit as it is fairly intuitive to use, and if you are stuck there is most likely a how-to guide to help you.

ConvertKit is a tag-based system rather than list-based. This allows you to properly manage your email list by creating tags based on preferences, customer behaviours and actions, purchases of courses or products, etc. (Keep your eye out for my next article where I will go into more details on using tags in ConvertKit.)

You can also segment your list to send targeted emails based on these tags. For example, you can send a special email just to those who have signed up for your free workshop. You could give them a special offer on a new course or send them follow-up emails from the workshop. There is a lot of flexibility in the segmentation and automations within ConvertKit, allowing you to nurture your email list more successfully.

4. Integrations

ConvertKit offers integrations with over 100 other software programs, from E-Commerce platforms to Website platforms, to membership and course platforms, and many more. There are so many options for you to integrate Convertkit as your email provider into the other systems you use for your website, marketing funnels and online courses. In addition to integrations with specific platforms, you can also set up hundreds of other integrations through Zapier depending on your specific needs.

If you use Kajabi to host your online courses, there is no direct integration with ConvertKit, primarily because Kajabi is an all-in-one platform that does include its own email marketing capabilities. However, you can still connect Kajabi to ConvertKit using Kajabi’s third party option when setting up the email notifications. ConvertKit does offer integrations with Teachable, Thinkific, and Podia if you use one of those platforms to host your online courses.

5. They Care More

All of the features listed above are key reasons for choosing ConvertKit over any other email marketing platform. When comparing these features to other email marketing platforms available, they will come out on top. In addition to the above features, I recommend ConvertKit because of the values the company is built on. Their values care about helping their customers succeed in their own businesses.

Below are the plans available as of the time of writing this post. ConvertKit recently added in a free plan which is a great way to start with them. However, this free plan does not include their automation funnels and sequences. Nov 9 ConvertKit Plans & Pricing

If you are just starting to grow your email list, the Creator plan starts at $9 per month for up to 300 subscribers. Yes, there are other email marketing platforms that may offer better features for their free or lowest priced plan. However, if you are planning to use ConvertKit at some point, it may be more beneficial to start with them from the beginning. (Rather than having to move everything over from another system.) Plus, they offer a free 14-day trial for all their paid plans.

Although, if you are wanting to move to ConvertKit from another email marketing platform, ConvertKit does offer a migration service. It is free for anyone on a paid plan. If you have less than 5,000 subscribers, they offer a mini migration that will move your tags, list, groups and segments. For anyone with more than 5,000 subscribers, the migration service includes moving over your tags, forms, sequence emails, email templates, and automations.

To recap, the five top reasons why I recommend ConvertKit for your email marketing are the:

  1. Deliverability and higher open rates of emails.
  2. Extensive support available through their Knowledgebase, Community and Live chat support.
  3. Great user experience with a simple, easy-to-use interface and powerful automation.
  4. Many integrations available with other platforms you are using for your business.
  5. Foundational value of customer care that ConvertKit is built upon.
